Composition and organizational characteristics

Chemical composition: The nominal composition of TC11 titanium alloy is Ti-6.5 Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si, mainly containing elements such as titanium (Ti), aluminum (Al), molybdenum (Mo), zirconium (Zr), and silicon (Si). The aluminum content is between 5.5% and 7.0%, the molybdenum content is between 2.8% and 3.8%, the zirconium content is between 0.8% and 2.0%, and the silicon content is between 0.2% and 0.35%.

Organizational characteristics: It belongs to the typical α+β type titanium alloy, which means that there are both α and β phases in its microstructure. The alpha phase gives the alloy high strength and heat resistance, while the beta phase can improve the plasticity and toughness of the alloy. The reasonable combination of the two endows TC11 titanium alloy with excellent comprehensive properties.

Performance characteristics

High strength: TC11 titanium tube has high room temperature strength, with a tensile strength usually reaching over 900MPa and a yield strength of over 800MPa. It can withstand large loads and can be used to manufacture components with high strength requirements.

Good toughness: While possessing high strength, it also has good toughness and is not prone to brittle fracture, which makes it reliable for use under impact loads or complex stress states.

Excellent anti fatigue performance: After appropriate heat treatment and processing technology, TC11 titanium tube can exhibit good anti fatigue performance and can work stably for a long time under repeated loads, extending its service life.

Heat resistance: It is a type of heat-resistant titanium alloy with excellent thermal strength properties below 500 ℃, such as high temperature strength, creep resistance, etc. Within this temperature range, the decrease in mechanical properties is relatively small, which can meet the requirements for use in high-temperature environments and is commonly used in the manufacturing of high-temperature components such as aircraft engines.

Corrosion resistance: It has good corrosion resistance to many corrosive media, including seawater, humid chlorine gas, oxidizing acids, etc. In these harsh corrosive environments, TC11 titanium tubes can maintain good chemical stability, reducing the risk of damage and failure caused by corrosion.

Processing performance

Good hot processing performance: pipes can be made through hot extrusion, hot rolling and other hot processing methods, and their structure and properties can be effectively controlled and improved during the hot processing process.

Good weldability: Multiple welding methods can be used for connection, such as argon arc welding, electron beam welding, etc. The strength of the welded joint can reach about 90% of the strength of the base metal, ensuring the reliability of the welded part.

The machining performance is still acceptable: although it has high strength, various types of mechanical processing can still be carried out by selecting appropriate cutting tools and machining process parameters, such as turning, milling, drilling, etc., to meet different shape and size requirements.

Production process

Melting: Advanced melting techniques such as vacuum consumable arc melting or electron beam melting are generally used to ensure the uniformity and high purity of alloy composition, reduce impurity content, and provide high-quality ingots for subsequent processing.

Forging: Heat the melted ingot to a suitable temperature range and perform forging processing on a press machine. Through multiple processes such as upsetting and stretching, the alloy's structure is improved to make it denser and more uniform, providing a good billet for pipe extrusion.

Squeezing: Heat the forged billet to a certain temperature, place it in the extrusion cylinder of the extruder, apply pressure through the extrusion rod, and extrude the billet from the mold hole to form a pipe. The extrusion process can produce various specifications of TC11 titanium tubes, and can achieve good dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Heat treatment: According to specific application requirements, the extruded pipe is subjected to heat treatment, such as annealing, to eliminate residual stresses generated during processing, stabilize the structure and properties of the pipe, and improve its comprehensive performance.

In the aerospace field, TC11 titanium tubes are commonly used to manufacture key components such as compressor disks, blades, and drums in aircraft engines. These components work under high temperature, high pressure, and high speed conditions, requiring extremely high material performance. The excellent performance of TC11 titanium alloy can meet these requirements and help improve the performance and reliability of the engine.

In the field of chemical engineering, it can be used to manufacture pipelines and components for chemical reaction vessels, distillation towers, crystallization equipment, mass transfer equipment, etc. It can resist the erosion of corrosive media in the chemical production process and ensure the safe and stable operation of equipment.

Metallurgical industry: In metallurgical equipment such as crushers and gear roller components, TC11 titanium pipes can utilize their high strength, high toughness, and good wear resistance to improve the service life and work efficiency of the equipment.

TC11 titanium pipes can be used to manufacture components for seawater desalination equipment, marine aquaculture equipment, and subsea pipelines. They can effectively resist the erosion of seawater, extend the service life of equipment, and reduce maintenance costs.
