Titanium machined parts are processed according to the drawings, with a high coefficient of friction, which results in a high amount of friction work required when chips flow through the front face of the tool during the cutting process. The temperature of the friction interface is extremely high, further accelerating tool wear. It is prone to elastic deformation and vibration, and the elastic modulus of titanium alloy is small (titanium alloy Ti-6-4 is 110kN/mm2, steel Ck45110kN/mm2210kN/mm2).


Titanium machined parts are prone to elastic deformation and vibration during cutting, which not only affects the machining dimensional accuracy and surface roughness of the parts, but also has a large elastic recovery of the machined surface, which is about 2-3 times that of stainless steel, and can also accelerate tool wear. At the same time, the low elastic modulus of titanium machined parts makes them have a clear rubber characteristic trend, which is easy to cause chips on the cutting edge of the tool, and can also accelerate tool wear, restricting the use of high cutting speeds.


Titanium alloy materials have many advantages and disadvantages, including high hardness, low plasticity, low thermal conductivity, large elastic deformation, and low elastic modulus. Therefore, during the processing of titanium alloys, a small thermal conductivity will inevitably cause the cutting temperature of the material to be too high; A small specific heat will inevitably cause the local temperature rise of the material to be too fast, thereby reducing the service life of the cutting tool; A low elastic modulus will exacerbate the machining rebound of the material surface, leading to tool wear or edge collapse; In high-temperature environments, strong chemical activity will inevitably intensify its chemical interactions with nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen, thereby increasing the difficulty of mechanical processing. In addition, the titanium alloy machining process, cutting conditions, tool materials, and cutting time all affect the overall efficiency of cutting. Therefore, the titanium alloy material cutting process must be strictly controlled in relevant aspects.
